As they previously reported via LionhearTV, the Philippine Terrestrial Channel TV5 to do a remake of the Korean Drama, ‘The Baker King’. This series will be TV5’s first Korean Drama remake and initially scheduled last year.
The said Korean Drama was first brought in this country via GMA7 last January of 2011. For most of its run, it the was the highest rated and most watched show in the country.
And now, the said adaptation is set to baked on May 18, at 9:30PM.
The story tells of brothers Kim Tak Gu and Matthew (Gu Ma Jun) competing with each other to dominate the baking industry. A mistress’ son, Tak Gu loses his right to inherit his father’s baking empire and uses his superb baking talent to be number one in the industry on his own. On the other hand, his younger half-brother Matthew contends with him for their father’s approval. Feeling jealous of Tak Gu’s talents and his position, Matthew enters the baking world but ended up with countless setbacks due to lack of talent (Synopsis from lionheartv.net)
It was developed by Janelle Ramos, written by Alyssa Alperos and directed by Enrico Quizon.
The cast are lead by Mark Neumann as Alfred Gonzales/Gomez aka Takgu, Shaira Mae as Eula Santos, Akihiro Blanco as Matthew Gonzales and Malak So Shdifat as Mellisa Ignacio.
